Limited, a groundwater consulting firm located
in Vaughan, Ontario, is recognized for its innovative and unique solutions
to environmental problems. Brian Beatty, P.Eng., senior hydrogeologist, has
over 35 years of experience, and our team consists of experienced
environmental professionals, including hydrogeologists, engineers, geologists
and technologists.
In the 1970's and 80's, we developed systems
to recharge groundwater by means of infiltration basins.
We are currently applying this technology and other infiltration systems
for effluent disposal and to maintain recharge to the groundwater environment.
Such recharge systems are expected to become mandatory
in urban developments where groundwater resources and tributary streams
must be protected.
Another innovative technology that we developed
in the early 1980's in Toronto is the aerobic landfill. Aerobic
landfill technology has recently received much interest around
the world because it can achieve large reductions in greenhouse gas emissions
from landfills. The City of Toronto continues to operate the original
aerobic landfill that we developed over 20 years ago.
In 2004, a BTES system was
put into operation at Durham College and the University of Ontario Institute
of Technology in Oshawa, Ontario. The campus includes 8 new buildings
which are designed to be heated and cooled with renewable energy. This
required a field of 370 boreholes, 200m deep, to meet the energy demand.
The system is North America's second largest and will provide the new
buildings with a highly efficient and environmentally friendly heating
and cooling system.
Our depth of experience is recognized by
law firms who retain us to provide expertise in major proceedings involving
groundwater issues. We also provide our expertise to municipal projects, landfill sites and remediation of contaminated
industrial sites.
